Directions, mathematical formulas, musical notation or the placement of furniture in a room – if you try to explain something to someone figuratively and words and gestures become insufficient, you take pen and paper and make a drawing. Over years URSULA DÖBEREINER collected these records, and traced and superimposed them in the computer. As entire wall filling computer printouts her papered drawings form the basis for three additional levels of decoration by Sabina Maria van der Linden, consisting of catwalk, performances and muzak of FONOFACTORY that are presented in the exhibition FLUFFY MINIMALISM
Based on her videos SABIHA (2002) PERFECTLY YOU (2003 – 2006) and PERFECTLY YOU show (2007) whose contents allow referring to concepts like idol cult, advertising, gender confusion, Vogueing or even the Johannesburg Swankers, the artist presents decorative interiors: delicate tulle-pompoms and a styrofoam runway-sculpture on which dancers BEATE KAULITZ and ESTHER QUADE circle in tube and burqa-like costumes by BIRGIT NEPPL. Appearing and disappearing like the remote-controlled puppets of a tower clockwork.
